Present Faculty Members

Establishment: The Department of Zoology came into existence in 1959 at UG level. Later, it was raised to postgraduate status in 1967. The PG classes began with 6 seats, which were later raised to 10 and now 25. With the inception of postgraduate classes, the department was automatically recognized as a research Centre for Ph.D. degrees.
Departmental Library: There is a well-established library in the department, having around 3000 books written by foreign and Indian authors that are available to the P.G. students and the faculty members. These books are issued to M.Sc. students in all four semesters. As a result, students do not need to buy books for each semester.
Research Facilities: There is a well-established research laboratory in the department that is well equipped with modern instruments, like, research microscopes with photography and video recording facility and object measurement software, B.O.D incubator, insect rearing cabinet, microtomes etc. Moreover, these facilities are available for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students.
Museum: There is a large museum in the department that contains a huge collection of original specimens of invertebrate and vertebrate animals. The museum is always open for students of any stream during the college hours.
Research and Publications: Research started in the department in 1967. Since then, the department has produced more than 100 Ph.Ds., and published more than 515 research papers till now.
Field of Specialization: The department provides the degree in M.Sc. Zoology with specialization in Entomology.
Projects and Conferences: In the past, the Department of Zoology has taken four minor and one major projects funded by the UGC that were completed successfully. Moreover, the department has also organized a national conference sponsored by UGC.
Achievements: The department is proud of producing right from the first position to the fifth in the merit list of C.C.S., University. More than 40 students succeeded in getting their names in the merit list of M.Sc. Zoology in C.C.S. University, Meerut. Many of our old alumni have occupied the posts of professors, directors, scientists, Principals, and teachers in various reputed government institutions. Moreover, in recent years, various students have qualified for the NET, JRF, and GATE examinations with good ranks and percentile scores.
Educational Visits: The department of zoology has conducted the several educational tours and visits of PG students to Zoological Park, Chandigarh, Dehradun Zoo, and Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, in the past and recent years (2014-2022) as well.
