Present Faculty Members

The Department of Political Science is one of the oldest departments in the College. It was set up in the year 1965 for the UG course. The Postgraduate course in the department was introduced in the year 1970. The Department of Political Science is conducting all its undergraduate and postgraduate courses under the semester system as per the syllabus of the new education policy. Currently, the Department has four teachers: one Associate Professor, two Assistant Professors and one part-time teacher.
The Department has well-qualified teaching faculty on its rolls. All the teachers are well experienced in teaching and research at different levels. It attracts the largest number of students at undergraduate and postgraduate from the Saharanpur region. Along with the students of the urban area, a lot of students from the rural area have also been taking advantage of qualitative education delivered in the department of political science at Maharaj Singh College Saharanpur. Many of its alumni hold prominent positions both in academic and administrative spheres across the country. Students studying in this department are selected every year for many examinations like UGC NET/JRF, teaching, law, media and government services.
The Department of Political Science encourages students to conduct debates and discussions on various topics of critical relevance. As part of extracurricular activities, the department has organized debates, quizzes, seminars and essay writing. Aristotle called Political Science the "Master Science" because it affects all aspects of human life. It gives students a different perspective to understand all aspects of life and solve problems. Political science has gradually developed into a discipline that includes the study of not only domestic politics but also international political scenarios. It includes understanding political ideas, ideologies, institutions, policies, procedures and behaviour as well as groups, classes, government, diplomacy, law, strategy and warfare. The subject of Political Science is also important because it gives the power to the students to understand the truth behind the truth so that they can develop balanced thinking, which makes them different from other citizens.
