VISION

In a period of five years, Department of Physical Education and Sports will broaden, enhance, and develop its teaching, education and service activities which are equal to norms and standards of Indian Universities.

MISSION

Department of Physical Education and Sports aims at total education through the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of people in order to promote healthier, happier and more successful people

The department mainly functions in teaching and sports activities

The department will create respectful students who value their health and fitness and practice healthful activities throughout their lives

Students will be prepared to make lasting contributions to their profession, communities and society.

The department will encourage students to take part in sport – whether it is recreational or competitive and promote cultural activities among students

The department will deliver ‘Outstanding’ lessons that inspire and motivate all students regardless of their ability

ABOUT US

The department of physical education commenced in the year 1971. The objective is to provide facilities related to playing and fitness. The department nurtures students with thorough knowledge in the theory and practical components with the view that they will serve the society independently and confidently as teachers, coaches and management specialists.

DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS

The department conducts selection trials to identify talented players during the months of August and September every year.

The selected players were trained, coached and sent for participation in the All India Inter University games and sports.

The prize winners and the participants are awarded with certificates in Annual function.

With the objective of providing chances for mass participation, Inter Departmental Intramural Tournaments and Sports comprising Arts and Science Students are conducted every year during February and March.

The department provides opportunities for the students and the staff to participate in the open and invitational tournaments organised by reputed educational institutions.

FUTURE OUTLOOK

The Department envisages to start Physical Education as an optional subject in B.A.

The Department has a master plan for constructing a cricket practice pitch.
